Fireproof Magnesium Oxide Board

Fireproof Magnesium Oxide Board

Fireproof Magnesium Oxide Board is a mineral-based building sheet made from magnesium-oxide cement and reinforced with fiberglass mesh. It is used as rigid lining, sheathing, or substrate in fire-conscious wall, ceiling, floor, and enclosure assemblies.
Typical applications include commercial and residential partitions, prefabricated buildings, service rooms, ceiling systems, floor underlayment, and fire-rated wall or enclosure designs that call for a non-gypsum mineral board.

Product Overview

Fireproof Magnesium Oxide Board is a mineral-based building sheet made from magnesium-oxide cement and reinforced with fiberglass mesh. It is used as rigid lining, sheathing, or substrate in fire-conscious wall, ceiling, floor, and enclosure assemblies.

Typical applications include commercial and residential partitions, prefabricated buildings, service rooms, ceiling systems, floor underlayment, and fire-rated wall or enclosure designs that call for a non-gypsum mineral board.

Key Advantages

Class A1 Reaction-to-Fire Specification

Product data specifies Class A1 reaction-to-fire performance. In internal partitions, service rooms, and other fire-conscious lining systems where the board forms part of the fire strategy, the mineral-based sheet limits the combustible contribution of the lining layer.

90-Minute Fire-Resistance Design Target

Product data lists a 90-minute fire-resistance requirement for applicable assemblies using the board. A 12 mm board can be used in a wall or ceiling assembly developed around that duration, but the final rating depends on the complete tested construction, not the sheet by itself.

Fiberglass Mesh Reinforcement and Smooth Surface Layer

The board uses fiberglass mesh reinforcement and a 1.5 mm surface layer, with a stated thickness tolerance of 0.5 mm. Around screw fixing zones, cut openings, and finish interfaces, the reinforced sheet provides a stable substrate, while the smoother face supports later jointing, coating, or lining work.

Sheet Format

The current standard sheet format is 1220 × 2440 mm at 12 mm thickness. Cut-to-size pieces can be prepared from this sheet according to the approved cut list.

Drawing-Based Processing

Opening positions, edge cuts, hole locations, and panel breakdown can be produced from supplied technical drawings or prototypes before production release.

Quality Control

  • Magnesium-oxide raw material, fiberglass mesh, and board-forming materials are checked before production for identification, condition, and batch consistency. Inspection control is organized in accordance with AC386. Process records, hold points, and corrective-action handling are managed in accordance with ISO 9001.
  • During board forming, inspectors check thickness, mesh placement, surface uniformity, edge condition, curing consistency, and overall flatness. Boards with visible delamination, damaged edges, uneven reinforcement, or excessive surface distortion are separated before final inspection.
  • Finished boards are tested for sheet dimensions, thickness deviation, flexural strength, moisture absorption, surface condition, and reaction-to-fire performance. A final visual inspection is completed before packaging, and independent third-party inspection is accepted when included in the project requirements.

FAQ

Q: What is the production lead time for Fireproof Magnesium Oxide Board?

A: Standard products take 3-7 days; made-to-order products take 7-15 days.

Q: What payment terms are available?

A: Standard orders use 30% advance payment with the balance paid before pickup; made-to-order orders use 50% advance payment with the balance paid before pickup.

Q: Can magnesium oxide board be cut with standard site tools?

A: Yes. Use a carbide scoring knife, fiber-cement shears, or a carbide-blade saw, with dust control and appropriate PPE.

Q: Which fasteners are suitable for magnesium oxide board?

A: Use corrosion-resistant fasteners approved for the framing and application; stainless-steel or ceramic-coated cement-board fasteners are common choices.
