Rock wool board is a type of board made primarily from natural rocks (such as basalt and diabase). The rocks are melted at high temperatures and then processed into fibers using a centrifugal method. Appropriate amounts of binder and dust-proofing oil are added, followed by curing and cutting.
Its main components include inorganic fibers (≥90%), phenolic resin (binder), and water-repellent agents (silicone oils). It possesses characteristics such as Class A non-combustible properties (GB8624-2012 standard) and low thermal conductivity (0.035-0.045 W/(m·K)).
Production Process:
Raw Material Melting: Rock is melted into a liquid state in an electric furnace at temperatures above 1500℃.
Fiber Forming: Fibers are spun at a high speed of 7000 rpm using a four-roll centrifuge.
Fiber Deposition: Fibers are deposited under negative pressure to form an initial cotton layer.
Curing and Shaping: Curing is performed in a 230-250℃ hot air circulating oven for 3-5 minutes.
Cutting and Processing: Fibers are cut into standard sizes (commonly 1200×600mm) using diamond tools.
Key Performance Indicators:
Density Range: 40-200 kg/m³ (typically 80-150 kg/m³ for construction applications)
Resistance Compressive strength: ≥40kPa (compliant with GB/T25975-2018)
Acidity coefficient: ≥1.6 (characterizing chemical stability)
Hydrophobicity: ≥98% (GB/T10299 standard)
Application scenarios:
Exterior wall insulation: Requires use with crack-resistant mortar and anchors. Expansion joints (≥10mm) should be reserved during construction.
Industrial equipment insulation: For high-temperature pipelines, it is recommended to use boards with a density ≥120kg/m³, and bind them with stainless steel straps.
Fireproof isolation strip: Width should not be less than 300mm (GB50016-2014 requirement)
